Lesson 3: Prayer in Scripture Part 1
Abraham negotiated with God to spare Sodom. Moses interceded so powerfully that God relented from judgment. Hannah travailed until her barrenness broke. Daniel prayed through 21 days of spiritual warfare for breakthrough.
These Old Testament prayer warriors show us language, persistence, faith, and boldness. But they also reveal something else: they prayed with limited revelation compared to what we have in Christ.
In Week 3 of our prayer series, we examine four powerful Old Testament examples of prayer, identifying the types of prayer they used and what their prayers reveal about their understanding of God. But we don't stop there—we explore how we would pray those same situations differently now, standing on the finished work of the Cross.
You'll discover:
- Abraham's intercession—boldness in standing in the gap
- Moses' mediatorial prayer—intimacy producing authority
- Hannah's travailing prayer—birthing breakthrough through spiritual labor
- Daniel's prophetic and warfare prayer—breaking through demonic resistance
- What they accessed (real and powerful, but limited)
- What we access (New Covenant authority through Christ)
- How the revelation of Jesus changes everything about prayer
